Toddler Bible Lessons – Week 2: Noah

Posted by on July 4, 2020

Noah Day 2: Build an Ark

  • Materials:
  • Children’s Bible with illustrations
  • wood blocks, anything else to stack and build
  • hammer
  • Noah toy (or construction worker)
  • Day 2: Lesson & Activities
  • Open Bible to Genesis 6:14. Ask if child wants to touch God’s Word. Touch gently. Then, “read” the story. God said, ā€œIā€™m going to bring a flood of water on the earth to destroy all life under the sky.ā€ He told Noah to build a boat called an ark. It would keep them safe.

God told Noah to build an ark to keep his family and the animals safe.

Sing (Tune: Mary Had a Little Lamb) God told Noah to build an ark, build an ark, build an ark. God told Noah to build an ark to keep his family safe.

Children’s Bible Reading: Open children’s Bible and point to picture of Noah and the ark (boat).

Activity: Stack blocks or wood pieces and pound with a hammer. Sing above song and other songs while playing. Who built the ark? Noah! Noah! Who built the ark? Brother Noah built the ark.

  • For Bible Time, I usually show Katelyn how to play first. I stacked the blocks and pounded with the hammer while singing. Then I gave her the hammer to let her try. I stacked the blocks in different ways every once in a while. Then, I stepped back and watched her play. She usually copies some of what I do, but also experiments with her own play also.
  • When we’re done with the lesson activity, I let her continue playing in whatever way she wants for a while before closing in prayer. Today she also wanted to pound her colored wood balls that came with the hammer we used for the lesson. Then she collected some of the wood pieces and carried them around in her Easter basket.

Closing: Proverbs 29:26, Whoever trusts in the Lord is safe. Noah trusted in the Lord.

  • Prayer Time:
  • For prayer time with these lessons, I’m trying to make it a separate and reverent time. After she has gotten in some creative play, I ask her to come sit on my lap to pray.
  • I sing the prayer song with her (see bottom of page 2) and then we pray.
  • Today we thanked God for the fun we had playing with blocks to build an ark like Noah. We thanked Him for what we learned about Noah’s obedience and how it made God happy. We asked for God’s help to be obedient to Him (and Katelyn to her parents). And we also prayed for comfort for Katelyn’s teeth coming in.
  • It’s a calming and gentle way to end our Bible Time together.
