The shop around the corner

Posted by on July 10, 2005

If you know me very well, you know that You’ve Got Mail is one of my favorite movies (and one of the 4 that I own :)). My sister and I went to the Arvada Library today because Standley Lake Library had been closed because of a problem with their air conditioner. They opened back up today, by the way, but we didn’t know that until we got to the Arvada Library. Oh well. :-D

Usually, we don’t look at the videos at the library, but we noticed them today and looked through them a little. Becca found The Shop Around the Corner, which is the 1940 movie that inspired You’ve Got Mail. I just knew we had to get it and watch it tonight. I’ve been wanting to watch You’ve Got Mail, and I thought it would be a fun alternative!

So we watched The Shop Around the Corner, and I enjoyed it. It was fun to see the things that were similar between the two. Of course, there was no e-mail or Instant Messenger in 1940, so they wrote letters instead. It’s amazing to see how far technology has come in just about 60 years!
