Posted by on December 8, 2020

Day 2: Anna Meets Jesus

*There are 3 activities for this day’s lesson. Feel free to choose one or two of the activities OR spread them out over several days! :)

  • Materials:
  • Bible (I like the NirV)
  • Activity #1: Construction paper
  • Activity #2: 2 pieces of each colored paper about ½ inch by 2 inches: yellow, black, red, white, green
  • Activity #3: Sunflower seeds (I used ones that were already out of the shell thinking that way Katelyn could eat them, but she didn’t care for them, and they were very small), Up to 10 small bowls, Numbers 1-10 (I only did 1-5)

Day 2: Lesson and Activities

  • Open Bible to Luke 2:38. Ask if child wants to touch God’s Word. Touch gently. Then, read the following story and verse. Anna was very old. She never left the temple. She worshiped day and night! Read Luke 2:38.

Giving Thanks to God

Activity #1:

  • “What are you thankful for?” Song from tv show CocoMelon.
  • Trace and cut out hands on colored paper (can do this ahead of time)
  • Decorate them with words/pictures and attach to edge of paper with verse written in the center (Psalm 9:1)
  • Play and sing “If I Were a Butterfly” song

Sharing the Good News

Activity #2:

  • Prep: Cut small strips of paper (small enough for rings for each 5 fingers).
  • Roll up strips of paper to make a ring for each of 5 fingers
  • Place each ring on your fingers and share the gospel
    • YELLOW: God is light!
    • BLACK: All have sinned. All will die.
    • RED: Jesus shed His blood on the cross and died for us.
    • WHITE: When you receive Christ, He makes you clean like snow.
    • GREEN: Jesus gives us eternal life! We can keep growing in Him.

Activity #3:

  • Speak: Share the good news! Share the good news! (cup hands by mouth) Spread it like seeds! Spread it like seeds! (Pretend to spread seeds around)
  • Jesus died for us! Jesus died for us! (Arms out like a cross)
  • Jesus is here! Jesus is here! (Point to heart)
  • Set up 5-10 bowls with a number next to each one (or in it).
  • Count out sunflower seeds and place the correct number in each bowl.

Closing: Luke 2:40, The child grew and became strong. Give thanks andshare the news of Jesus!
